Why are Fractions So Important in your Life Anyway?

The question on the mind of many students, and I might add parents, is why do I need fractions anyway? Is it really that important? Can't I just leave this part out and continue to algebra? Just pretend it doesn't exist. Just think of how many times a day you have to assess a situation, divide up a workload, drive a car or even plan a meal.

Why is viscosity important for bearing lubrication?

Viscosity = friction in fluids. Viscosity is a property of fluids and is caused by their internal resistance to shear. When a fluid is moving under laminar flow conditions, with no turbulence — as is the case with most bearing lubrication scenarios — microscopic layers of the fluid flow over one another, much like a stack of paper, with each sheet moving slightly faster than the one below it.

It is not, however, a fundamental force, as it originates from the electromagnetic forces between atoms. Friction between solid objects and gases or liquids is called fluid friction. 1 Equations 2 Coefficient of friction 3 Types of friction 3.1 Static friction 3.2 Kinetic friction 4 ...

Static vs Kinetic Friction: Why Is Static Friction Greater ...

2020-12-25 · When discussing static friction, it is important to come down to the microscopic level. The surface of every object is uneven at the microscopic scales, regardless of how smooth it may feel to the touch. Even a brand-new linoleum floor, when examined under a microscope, will have peaks and valleys, like a topographical map of the surface full ...

Why is Friction Important for Road Safety? - …

Friction is the force that is responsible for opposing the tyre’s rubber to keep it from sliding on the surface of the road, giving you the traction you need to move. When you apply the brakes, friction brings your car to a halt. However, friction is not uniform — there are in fact two types of friction; 1.

Why is friction important in formula one racing? | …

2013-2-24 · Depends on what friction you are referring to. Aero friction is important because it determines how well the car slips through the air, as well as how well it plants itself to the ground (generally trading one for the other, although you can actually achieve both to a limited extent with aero devices that work only in the laminar layer of flow; but most of the effect one way or the other comes ...
